Fancy a 3D or VFX show this year? Check out what I think look like five of the best 3D design events happening in the UK in 2018!
Although the Internet gives us access to a wealth of information, sometimes it's nice to network and see things up close and personal. If you're interested in 3D design, then check out these upcoming events.
April 24–26, 2018. London.
This three-day festival is hosted at The Old Truman Brewery in the heart of London's East End. D&AD is one of top destinations for creativity, revelling in the best design and advertising the world has to offer.
This year's festival will be focused on how creativity shapes culture, and this is brought to you via talks, workshops and experiences from the best in the business. Be inspired by 'Human Voices,' a track to promote creative purpose to instigate positive change; be motivated by 'Failures and Successes in the Creative Process;' and be stimulated by 'Owning the Future,' which explores how the creative industries can embrace and own change.
With a huge number of talks and workshops throughout the three days, by the industry's top designers, what more could you ask for in the artistic heart of London's East End? You can attend one, two or all three days.
May 10-13, 2018. London.
It's all about the AV! Splice showcases the overlapping areas within audio visual art and culture through live shows using live cinema, AV remixing and VJing together with performance work like digital theatre, projection mapping, visual media, generative software and experimental music.
Founded in 2016, this is Splice's third year and takes places across two vibrant London locations. The first being Stour Space, near Hackney Wick, a place that often exhibits and promotes the work of local and emerging artists. The second is Rich Mix, in Bethnal Green, which is a hub of creativity for aspiring new artists.
If, like me, you love your audio visual possibilities in Cinema 4D, then I would recommend heading down on the Friday to Stour Space to experience Colin Evoy Sebestyen's workshop, 'Creating AV with MAXON Cinema 4D.' Colin will be guiding you through the basics then diving into the powerful MoGraph toolset, including the Sound Effector. I'll probably see you there!
May 22–23, 2018. Olympia, London.
VR World is a two-day exhibition based around augmented, mixed and virtual reality and its influence in and beyond gaming.
Now in its third year, VR World is the leading event in its field, with over 150 prominent speakers and countless networking opportunities. This is the VR event not to miss out on! Throughout the two days, attendees will meet inspiring speakers, hear exciting keynotes from industry specialists and become involved in significant panel discussions.
September 25–27, 2018. NEC, Birmingham.
The top five reasons to attend TCT Show: Innovation, Interaction, Insights, Intelligence and Inspiration. TCT Show hosts a huge mix of expert speakers for elite applications and innovations mixed with exclusive product launches and live demonstrations.
Throughout the three days, you'll be walking alongside manufacturers, designers, business leaders, innovators and investors who will be keeping you up to date with the latest technology, widening your knowledge and inspiring you on the conference stages, as well as helping you find solutions to current and future design challenges.
October 3–7, 2018. Bournemouth.
If you like your visual effects, computer games or animations then this is definitely the festival for you! Hitting its sixth year, BFX is set to bring you a new wave of inspiring talent from today's digital design world, alongside some of the industry's leading specialists.
Situated on England's South Coast in Bournemouth, this festival is bursting with a fantastic line-up of speakers, screenings and workshops, all packed full of content to get your creative teeth into. Presentations aren't only educational but also entertaining and engaging. Previous events have featured talks from Disney, Double Negative, The Mill, MPC, Sony, Pixar and many more.
